North Liberty Iowa Library

Just had to make a comment on the North Liberty Iowa Library. That was the library that we visited today (6/5/08). It is attached to the community center that has a cool pool and a water slide among other things, but what caught my attention and I think other libraries should utilize is - Character Cake Pans. Yes, they had several rows of cake pans standing on the top of the bookcases. I asked the librarian and she said that they were on loan just as the books were only you took them out for only a week. I know I have a few Wilton cake pans – Big Bird, a cross, mini car, train, bear and doll – there might be others, but I can’t remember , but they are too costly to use and then store. What a great idea to just borrow them and return them. The pans were sort of catorigized too, they had several Halloween ones together and Christmas, Easter and a lot of just childrens characters. What a great idea. We need to pass this on and let the idea spread.

That is a great idea. I bought an Elmo cake pan for our little ones 2nd birthday and I haven't used it since. I think it ran me about $25.00. Sure would of liked checking one out of the library for a week.

Judi, I continue to enjoy going on vacation with you, your photo's are great. It's wonderful that you have been able to connect with family and it seems like you meet some very interesting people along the way, for a stay at home like me your trip is quite an adventure. I was releived that that you made it out of Iowa ok, I had been worried about you. By the way belated congradulations on your 37th wedding anniversary. Becki brought Maggie in today, what a little cutie, needless to say she got a lot of attention from all of us. Anxious to see whats coming up in Alaska. Karen
