Pet Peeve Monday
I got this meme from Tammy's blog. I know it's not Monday, but better late than never. Her biggest pet peeve is people on the phone while driving. I've got to say that lately mine is people failing to use their turn signal. I'll be sitting there waiting to turn right but not want to turn in front of someone, then they of course are turning right but not using their signal. I think it's a waste of fuel for me to wait unnecessarily. What do they think the signal is for if not to inform others of what their plans are? What's your biggest pet peeve..... today? Don't they change daily? hehe

Welcome Olivia!!
The long wait is over. Olivia arrived this morning, March 25, 2009, at 4:22 a.m. Momma and baby are trying to rest after a long labor and delivery. She weighed in at 8 pounds and is 20.5 inches long. Can't wait to reveal a pic with her long curly dark hair. Unfortunately, with hair that long she needed a shampoo and blow dry before revealing it to the public lol. Will she have a mohawk like Peanut did? We'll see. She also has her Momma's beautiful pouty lips. She's gorgeous!

Car Guys
I don't know about you, but the men in my family are all 'car guys'. My daughter says men are either sports guys or car guys. I think you can add house/yard guys to that, but whatever, mine are car guys. And every Spring all thought turn to fast cars. MM is thinking about looking for an Impala SS to replace his grocery getter. My sil is currently working on replacing the engine on a Subaru. He's putting in a new turbocharger to keep it really fast. Both my son and sil really like the Subaru because of it's speed and handling. I've picked up a little about cars through the years and I've learned that the turbocharger puts more oxygen into the engine allowing it to go faster. I still love the fast cars and even more importantly I love the feeling it gives to my guys.

Garden Stones
While waiting for warmer weather I decided to make these garden markers that my niece had in her garden in Alaska. Please forgive the photography - guess I was in a hurry at that point. Basically, I have plant markers in the garden that stand out like a sore thumb. I typed all the detail about the plant, name, height, spread, time of bloom - that kind of stuff then laminated it and put it on a marker. Because they are white they really stand out. These garden stones will rest on the other marker so I can still lift the stone and see the details without the white jumping out at you.
At this time of year the white markers really stand out.
I still have a lot more to do, but this is a good start. What do you think? I loved the idea when I saw Wendy's. Thanks Wendy.

Need New Boots
I've been looking for a replacement for my hiking boots that I love. These work boots look exactly like my worn out ones.
I love everything about them, especially the support they give my ankles. Last summer we hiked all over the Yukon and Alaska and my old ones really got a run for their money. Last weekend we went for a couple mile hike and my hips and legs were a little sore. I'm thinking the cushion is gone or something, because these babies were amazing all last year. Maybe I'm just out of shape, but I'm really glad I found this site to purchase more. I've searched all of the local brick and mortar stores and couldn't find just the right ones.
I didn't really polish them while we were gone and MM cleaned them up when we got home, wish I had taken a picture of the before and after because they really cleaned up nice too. There's nothing like a good leather boot, for hiking or yard work.

Closet Project
As I was dropping ecards last week I came across a post about cleaning your closet. It said to start by emptying the closet then put back the things that you truly like and wear all the time. Next you start going through the rest and decide to sell at a resale shop, give to your favorite charity or toss.
Before
Totally empty
Yup….lots of room for new cloths hehe.
So that’s exactly what I did. I was showing MM after I was finished and he said “looks like you’re going shopping”. I said “yup”. I got rid of so much stuff that I don’t like and hardly ever wear – it was just taking up space. Next I have to do this with the dresser drawers. They are packed and I have nothing to wear. There’s something wrong with that.
Are you doing anything special for Spring cleaning?

Another Project Done
I finished one little project. A little decorative stocking for the new little one. I also added the picture of all of them. They're cute as a decoration at Christmas time.
Started a fun project yesterday. While in Alaska last summer I noticed in my brothers garden little rocks painted with the plant name. So then, while in Homer AK I saw the perfect rocks for just such a project. Yes, I grabbed a few off the shoreline for this project. I was dreading starting because I'm not very artistic, but then I just jumped in and decided to keep it simple. I'm just painting the name of the plant and I think I'll put a little leafy design or small bloom for some color. We also bought a lot of beautiful rocks for the garden. Seems silly to pay money for rocks, but they'll add color to the garden til the blooms start. I'll post pictures when I get them finished.
Are you starting to anticipate Spring yet? I've noticed plants starting to poke through and the grass is actually getting greener too with all the rain we've gotten. Can't wait to get dirt under my fingernails, but these little projects will have to keep me happy til then.

Busy Schedule
From my lack of posts you can venture that I've been waaay too busy. Work is literally crazy and here at home is almost as busy. I saw my daughter and lil Peanut a few times when her hubby was out of town for a couple of weeks. It's like watching a love story unfold. She (my daughter) is totally 'in love' with everything that Peanut does. I can remember being like that and it is so nice to see it happen for her. Peanut is talking more and is into so much more interaction. One night when they were over Peanut was in the kitchen taking everything off the hooks or whatever it was hanging on. That included the apron so we decided to model it on her. It's a full size apron so it is a little big on her lol. She thought she was styling.
I somehow finished another baby quilt for my daughter's friend. Turned out nice, don't you think?
Other than that we're just waiting patiently for our new granddaughter. Our son and dil are getting real anxious. They were hoping it would be around my son's birthday on February 22, she's not due til the end of March though. Little one isn't finished baking yet, but it won't be long now. I'm working on some Christmas things for her now. We decorate our house with little counted cross stitch stockings with everyone's name on them. And the little one also needs her own stocking (or as we have 'mitten') to hang on the mantel. Almost finished with the counted cross stitch stocking then I just have to knit the mitten.
MM's been busy finishing up the small remodel jobs so we can do the painting... now we just have to decide the colors to use. I don't know why I'm making it out to be a big deal.. it has to be green lol. We just have to decide what shade of green. I'll post pictures when we finish it. Hopefully I'll have more time to post soon.
Oh yeah, found one more pic of lil peanut I wanted to share. MM was raising the table with his foot and she was not happy about it. She would smile for the camera then the table would lift and she would look at him and give him a dirty look. Quite funny actually.
